Though our platform is still at the public beta stage, it is worthy of note that we are already having results, a stolen vehicle was recovered through our web application https://legitcar.ng some weeks ago.

On the 31st of August 2017, a 2007 Toyota Corolla with vehicle Identification Number (VIN): 2T1BR32E**C770437 removed from the parking location at the Family Worship Centre in Abuja was registered on our web app https://www.legitcar.ng as missing. We contacted the theft-victim, requested for a copy of the Police Report on the incident, and moved the information to the database. Then on the 12th of September 2017, the same vehicle was presented to someone to buy, but fortunately the buyer knew about LegitCar, got the chassis number of the vehicle, and made a verification search on our web application . He got a match for a stolen vehicle and called the Police, this resale was about to happen in Kaduna. The Police moved in and arrested the culprits, retrieved the vehicle and it was returned to the owner, one Mr. Emmanuel, on the 25th of October, 2017.

This shows how important it is for car buyers to do a theft-status verification before purchasing any used vehicle in the country, whether it is presented as a ‘direct belgium’ so that they do not lose their money and still get into trouble with Law Enforcement. It is important to know that about 70% of missing vehicles are still resold to unsuspecting buyers who do not know these vehicles are stolen.

Finally people who have lost their vehicles to theft or armed robbery can still visit https://legitcar.ng and provide us with the details, we will take it up from there.
